Tender Oven-Baked Ribs: Juicy and Irresistible!

This recipe for tender oven-baked ribs combines smoky BBQ flavors with a secret spice blend for an unforgettable taste experience. Perfectly cooked, these ribs are so tender they fall right off the bone.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.52 kg Ribs (Baby Back Ribs or Spare Ribs)
  • 1 tablespoon Paprika
  • 1 tablespoon Brown Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Onion Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Chili Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • ½ teaspoon Cayenne Pepper (optional)
  • 1 cup BBQ Sauce (your favorite type)
  • 2 tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar (optional)
  • ½ cup Water or Broth

Instructions

  1. Remove the silver skin: Turn the ribs over so the bones are facing up. Use a sharp knife to slide under the silver skin on the back of the ribs and lift it up. Grab the silver skin with a kitchen towel and pull it off carefully. This takes about 5 minutes and is important for keeping the ribs tender.
  2. Mix the rub: In a small bowl, combine all the rub ingredients (paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, black pepper, salt, and optional cayenne pepper) well. This takes about 3 minutes.
  3. Season the ribs: Generously rub the ribs with the spice mixture on both the top and bottom. Make sure the spices are evenly distributed. This step takes about 5 minutes.
  4. Prepare the baking sheet: Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup. This should take no longer than 2 minutes.
  5. Wrap the ribs: Place the seasoned ribs on the foil and pour the apple cider vinegar (if used) and the water or broth over them. Wrap the ribs tightly in the aluminum foil. This process takes about 3 minutes.
  6. Bake the ribs: Preheat the oven to 150°C (300°F) and bake the ribs for 2.5-3 hours. The ribs should be very tender and easily pull apart with a fork after cooking.
  7. Remove the ribs from the oven: After the cooking time, carefully take the ribs out of the oven and gently open the foil (caution, hot steam!). This takes about 2 minutes.
  8. Brush the ribs with BBQ sauce: Generously brush the ribs with BBQ sauce on both the top and bottom. This step takes about 5 minutes.
  9. Bake the ribs again: Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F) and bake the ribs uncovered for 15-30 minutes until the BBQ sauce is sticky and caramelized. Be careful not to burn the ribs.
  10. Let the ribs rest: After baking, remove the ribs from the oven and let them rest for 10 minutes before cutting them into individual ribs or serving. This helps distribute the juices.
  11. Serve: Serve the ribs with your favorite sides like coleslaw, corn on the cob, and potato salad. Enjoy your delicious dish!
